How do you get more people to click on a tweet, and less of them to click the “like” button?
That’s the idea behind an image search tool called Sound.
In short, Sound uses a technique called image search to make sure that users are seeing the correct content as soon as they see it.
So instead of seeing a photo of a cat on your timeline, for example, if you’re a big fan of cats and want to show your followers some photos of cats that you’ve taken, you can do that with Sound.
“We’ve always used the hashtag-based search of Twitter, but we wanted to build something that was more of a natural experience,” said co-founder and CEO Josh Sowinski.
Sowinksi added that Sound uses artificial intelligence to help users get to the content faster and get the most from their time on the platform.
Sound is currently available for free on the Android Market, and Sowierski says that he plans to expand the app to iOS in the near future.
While Sowinki said that Sound is currently focused on the desktop and mobile platforms, he did offer some thoughts on what’s coming up for the company on those platforms as well.
“For iOS, we’re really focused on bringing our app to a number of different platforms,” he said.
“We’re looking at different ways of doing things like making it easier for users to add the Sound icon to their timelines and to make it easier to add your own content.”
So far, Sound is only available for the iOS App Store, but it will be released to the Android Marketplace soon, and will also be available for other platforms in the future.
It will also launch on the Apple TV App Store in the coming weeks.
